Merrell P. Bareford, 82

Merrell P. Bareford, 82, of Spotsylvania County passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Mary Washington Hospital.

Merrell was a dedicated employee of Spotsylvania County Schools until her retirement. She dedicated her life to taking care of those around her, especially children. Merrell loved her dachshunds, camping, attending car shows with her husband and gatherings with family and friends. She was a kind, caring and selfless woman who embodied the definition of love. Merrell will be remembered for her delicious sweet tea and her smile that would light up the room.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ernest Bareford; her three children, Judy Barnett and her husband Charles Barnett, Brenda Lumsden, Keith Bareford and his wife, Vanessa Bareford; her four grandchildren, Heidi Zeller and her husband Will Zeller, Hayley and David Bareford, and Holly Lumsden; her two great-grandchildren, Oliver Zeller and Serenity Morris; and niece Donna Elliott.

The family will receive friends and loved ones from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

Service will be held at noon, Tuesday, May 13, at the funeral home chapel.

Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
