Rollene B. McCormick, 92, of Fredericksburg passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at her son's residence.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1921, in Hobart, OK. In 1983 she established Westland Academy in Fredericksburg. After retiring in 1993, she returned to education by opening "Back to Basic Learning." She was a member of local, state, and national education associations, American Childhood Education Association, and Kappa Kappa Iota.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela St. Clair of Alexandria; son Charles McCormick of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Thaine McCormick in 2011.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. in Quantico National Cemetery on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Friends may sign her register book at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, or make online condolences at mullinsthompsonfredericksburg.com.
