Warren F. Taylor, 77

Warren F. Taylor, 77, of Spotsylvania County lost his battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 30, 2014. 

Born on March 22, 1937, he was the youngest of four brothers.  He was a faithful member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church.  He served in the U. S. Army.  He worked as a deputy for Spotsylvania County.  He was also a firefighter, both volunteer and career, and was a member of the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department during the organization’s early years and was later bestowed with the honor of life member.  He was a career fireman with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department.  After 26 years of service, he retired in 1991 as a lieutenant.

After retirement, he enjoyed gardening and hay farming in the small neighborhood where he grew up.  Warren loved people and serving them, whether plowing a garden or pushing snow from a driveway.  He was a good neighbor and friend to his community.  He loved country music.  Lorrie Morgan was his favorite singer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Edna Taylor; and two brothers, Bryant Taylor and Floyd Taylor.

He is survived by a brother, Stuart L. Taylor and his wife, Virginia; a sister, Linda Taylor; a sister-in-law, Jackie Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Clyde Coleman and the Rev. Scott Quinn officiating.  Interment will follow at the Confederate Cemetery, Spotsylvania.
