Old Dominion Humane Society pet of the week~ Rosie

My name is Rosie. I am an 8 year young dachshund (the REAL deal, not one of those combo deals). When I first got to my foster home, I immediately picked Maddie, a 17 year old friend of the family, as my person. I was surprised that she went home and didn’t take me! After all, who wouldn’t want someone as charming and loving as me?! I was sad for about ½ of the next day when I finally came to the realization that people come and go. I decided right then and there to make a backup plan. I adopted my foster mom as my person (and man was she easy to sucker in). I got a few extra treats, some extra special loving, AND I get to sleep under the covers in her bed. Teehee, she is so gullible. I wish all people were that easy.

I am housebroken and I do not need to be crated. With that said, if you have had another dog that has piddled in your house, I may do a small marking. I cannot help it. I am a queen and all who follow shall know I was here. I promise, I only did it once. My foster mom told me not to do it again, so I haven’t. She was also patient with me. She let me come around in my own time. Now I make her think I am begging for attention and she will pick me up to cuddle. I repay her with a thousand happy kisses and a full body wiggle. If I can’t sit in her lap, I will snuggle as close as possible.

In the intro, I told you that I am 8 years old. You should know, I LOVE to run. I LOVE the dog park. So if you have a nice back yard or access to a dog park, I would love to see your home. I get along well with my foster sister, though she mainly just ignores me. I would play wither her if she weren’t such a party pooper.

When I am hungry, I will dance and give you a little yip. When I need to go potty, I will jump up and down like a ball to get your attention. While I do love my foster home, they tell me there is even a better home for me out there. One that will love and adore me so my foster mom can help another little furry person like me. I hope you will call ODHS or fill out an application. I would love to meet you. Ciao for now, the couch is calling my name. Love Rosie
