Arrest Made for August Bomb Threat at Spotsylvania Towne Centre

Sheriff Roger Harris said the arrest came after a lengthy investigation. Where an arrest is mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Detectives from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division made an arrest Oct. 31 in connection with the Aug. 23, 2013, bomb threat at Spotsylvania Towne Centre mall.

Westley Cordell Witherspoon, 22, King George County, Va., was charged with the felony violation of 'Threats to Bomb or Damage Buildings,' Capt. Jeff Pearce with the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office said.

Witherspoon was held without bond in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

"The motive for Witherspoon’s bomb threat on August 23 was not released, due to the ongoing criminal investigative and judicial activities in the case," Pearce said.
