If patience is a virtue, it's not surprising that an attempted bank robber was found lacking. The Stafford County Sheriff's Office reports the man ended up leaving the bank when the teller wouldn't respond to his demand for money.

A man walked up to a teller at the BB&T Bank at 760 Warrenton Rd. in Stafford at about 2 p.m. Tuesday and demanded money. He did not have a weapon.

"The teller did not present any money, at which point the male suspect exited the bank and left the area on foot," said Bill Kennedy, public information officer with the Stafford Sheriff's Office.

Stafford deputies set up a perimeter and notified all of the businesses in the area to be on the lookout for the suspect.  A Stafford K-9 officer and dog, the Virginia State Police and the Fredericksburg Police Department responded to the scene in an attempt to locate the suspect.  No suspect was located.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a black baseball hat, a black/gray North Face type jacket -- with gray patches below the shoulder and at the elbows -- and sunglasses.

Anyone who has information as to the identity of the suspect is asked to contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540-658-4400, Stafford Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020 (where callers may remain anonymous) or TEXT “Stafford” + your tip to CRIMES (27463).
