Burglars Use UHaul Truck to Steal 'Large Number' of Used Car Batteries

Fredericksburg Police Incidents, April 28-29, 2014.

Fredericksburg City investigators are looking for unknown thieves who made off with a truckload of used car batteries.

A Walmart employee contacted police at 2:30 a.m. Sunday when it was found that the thieves had pulled a UHaul truck up to a storage crate at the store at 1800 Carl D. Silver Parkway.

They then accessed the crate and stole a "large number" of used car batteries, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY: 

900 block Myrick St, 4/24 – 4/27 7:00 p.m. A resident reported that an unknown person entered the home while she was in the process of moving and stole money and other items of value from the house. The investigation is ongoing. 

LARCENY: 

Hobby Lobby, 1360 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 4/28 2:00 p.m. – 7:50 p.m. An employee reported that an unknown person stole her wallet from her purse in the break room. The victim’s credit cards were later used to make fraudulent purchases at area stores. The investigation is ongoing. 

100 block Hillcrest Dr, 4/25 8:00 a.m. A resident reported that she saw a male subject steal a set of tires and rims from the patio area of her home. The suspect fled from the scene in a gold Buick. A short time later, the suspect was located at Dunning Mills Inn and he was taken into custody without incident. The stolen property was recovered at a tire shop in Spotsylvania County and returned to the victim. Steven Lee Roberts, 26, of no fixed address was arrested and charged with felony larceny, possession of stolen property with the intent to sell, and attempting 
to obtain money by false pretenses. 

1500 block Princess Anne St, 4/21 – 4/26 3:15 p.m. A resident reported that an unknown person stole an outdoor heater and a lawn mower from his back yard. No suspects or witnesses at this time. 

1500 block Kenmore Ave, 4/26 3:30 p.m. A Stafford resident reported that an unknown person broke a window on her vehicle and stole a wallet and other items of value from inside. No suspects or witnesses at this time. 

Giant, 1245 Jefferson Davis Hwy, 4/26 5:00 p.m. A patron reported that an unknown person stole a jacket and other items of value from his unsecured vehicle in the parking lot. No suspects or witnesses at this time. 

TGI Friday’s, 1160 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 4/26 11:00 p.m. A manager reported that two male subjects left the restaurant without paying for their meals. The investigation is ongoing. 

2100 block Idlewild Blvd, 4/26 – 4/27 2:00 a.m. A resident reported that she and her husband returned home and found that their vehicle had been driven by an unknown person and returned to a parking space around the corner from its original location. The investigation is ongoing.

City Dock, 200 Sophia St, 4/27 11:25 a.m. A witness reported that an older white male wearing jeans and a striped shirt stole a length of chain from the Irish Brigade memorial. The witness also reported that the suspect left the scene riding a black bicycle. The investigation is ongoing. 

FRAUD: 

Gamestop, 1667 Carl D Silver Pkwy, 4/25 – 4/28 10:30 a.m. A manager reported that three male subjects paid for merchandise using fraudulent traveler’s checks. The investigation is ongoing.
