Car Crashes into Home on Lafayette Blvd.

Two people were injured in the crash.

Two people were transported to Mary Washington Hospital after their car crashed into a home in the 1000 block Lafayette Blvd. in the early morning hours of Nov. 22.

At about 12:45 a.m., police, fire and EMS responded for a report of a vehicle crashed into the porch of a house on Lafayette Blvd., according to Fredericksburg Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

A witness said he saw the car lose control as it went through the turn near Battlefield Restaurant. The car crashed into a parked SUV and then into the porch of a house, knocking some of the supporting pillars free from the building.

Both the driver and his passenger were transported to the hospital.

The driver, Waleed Al Yami, 22, of Spotsylvania, was charged with DUI, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

"The resident of the house was home at the time of the crash, but was not injured," Bledsoe said.
