City Blotter: Easter Weekend 2011

Police respond to three burglaries, three larcenies, one report of vandalism, one report of fraud and make numerous arrests over the holiday weekend.

FREDERICKSBURG POLICE/FIRE INCIDENTS MONDAY, APRIL 25, 2011

UNLAWFUL ENTRY:

1300 block Caroline St, April 23 3:00 a.m. – 6:25 a.m. A neighbor who was checking on the house reported that she found her friend’s front door open and heavily damaged. Officers discovered an intoxicated male subject inside a downstairs bathroom, and he was taken into custody without incident. James Cooper, 26, of Spotsylvania was arrested for felony destruction of property and unlawful entry. Cooper was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $2000 bond.

BURGLARY:

T-Mobile, 1650 Carl D Silver Pkwy, April 23 8:40 p.m. – April 24 1:00 p.m. An employee reported that an unknown person gained entry to the building and damaged a wall and an electrical panel box. Nothing was stolen from the business. The investigation is ongoing.

1000 block West Kensington Cir, April 18 4:00 p.m. – April 24 6:15 a.m. A resident returned home and found the basement door damaged and forced open, and several items of value stolen from the home. The investigation is ongoing.

200 block Keavy Ct, April 18 – April 23 5:20 p.m. A resident reported that he returned home and found several electronic items stolen from the apartment. It appears that entry was made through a bedroom window. The investigation is ongoing.

WATER RESCUES:

Rappahannock River, April 24 In conjunction with Stafford County Fire and Rescue, the Fredericksburg Fire Department and the Fredericksburg Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to several calls for water rescues from the river: 

6:10 p.m., 300-400 block Riverside Dr. Two victims from a capsized canoe were on a rock in the river, and two victims on Laucks Island needed help getting back to shore. The victims on Laucks Island self-rescued and the victims in the river were ferried to shore by rescue raft staffed by the Fredericksburg Fire Dept (FFD). 7:15 p.m., 300-400 block Riverside Dr. Three victims from two overturned kayaks and a canoe were found holding on to rocks in river. The victims were ferried to the shore by an experienced recreational canoeist who got to them first. 

7:42 p.m., Falmouth Bridge. Two victims from an overturned canoe (One of these was of the same party from the 7:15 incident, and one was the canoeist who assisted in that rescue; both decided to continue downstream together but only made it as far as the Falmouth Bridge) were spotted in the water by FFD personnel returning from the 7:15 p.m. incident. One victim self- rescued, and one victim was ferried to shore by rescue raft from FFD.

9:30 p.m. Units responded for a report of an overdue kayaker, a male from Manassas who had assisted in the earlier rescues. FFD personnel searched the city side of the river, but the subject was later located in his vehicle in Stafford County.

LARCENY:

1300 block Winchester St, April 22 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. A resident reported that a concrete statue was stolen from his front porch. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

200 block Maple Ct, February 24 – April 19 9:00 p.m. A resident reported that two toll passes were stolen from his vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1000 block Everett Ct, April 23 10:00 p.m. – April 24 5:00 a.m. A resident reported that her solar lantern was stolen from the front porch. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

V ANDALISM:

400 block Keavy Ct, April 23 6:40 p.m. A resident reported that a fire extinguisher was discharged by several juveniles in the apartment complex. The investigation is ongoing.

FRAUD:

Check Into Cash, 2225 Plank Rd, April 16 – April 22 12:00 p.m. A manager reported that two male subjects received cash for fraudulent checks at the store. The investigation is ongoing.

DUI ARRESTS: Kevin Gies, 24, of Stafford was arrested in the 1700 block of Caroline St.

Samuel Murphy, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana in the 1700 block of Stafford Ave.

Jose Hernandez, 50, of Spotsylvania was arrested in the 3300 block of Fall Hill Ave.

ARRESTS: Danny Bailey, 45, of Fredericksburg was arrested for felony domestic assault and battery. Timothy Humphrey, 24, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication.

Janine Ellis, 47, of Fredericksburg was arrested for felony domestic assault and battery. Harold Manuel, 50, of Queens, New York was arrested for public intoxication. Juvenile male, 16, was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Juvenile male, 14, was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Jack Parson, 33, of Fredericksburg was arrested for felony domestic assault and battery.

Charles Lynch, 25, of Spotsylvania was arrested for public intoxication.

Xavier White, 21, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Tannzania Sturrup, 18, of Culpeper was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

John Doe, unknown age, was arrested for public intoxication. James Brown, 60, of no fixed address was arrested for trespassing. Eppa Cook, 60, of no fixed address was arrested for aggressive solicitation.

Richard Smith, 45, of no fixed address was arrested for possession of oxycodone without a prescription, identity fraud, and providing false information to law enforcement to avoid arrest.
