City Blotter - March 8, 2011

Police on the lookout for a reckless driver who fled the scene of single vehicle accident.

  • The following items come from the Fredericksburg Police Department. In incidents where arrests are made, charges are merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. Arrested individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

FREDERICKSBURG POLICE INCIDENTS TUESDAY, MARCH 8, 2011

HIT AND RUN

14-block William Street, March 7 6:30 p.m. Officers responded to the area for a report of a single vehicle accident involving a utility pole. The vehicle owner stated that he was not paying attention and hit the pole. Several witnesses stated they observed the vehicle being driven in a reckless manner when it lost control and that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot after the accident. Officers were able to identify the driver as Robert Haley, Jr., 27, of Milford but were not able to locate him. The vehicle owner, Michael Mcmillion, 21, of Spotsylvania was charged with allowing a suspended driver to operate a vehicle. Warrants were obtained on Robert Haley, Jr., for reckless driving, driving while revoked and hit and run and are still pending service.

 23 Fall Hill Avenue, March 7 6:45 p.m.A security guard stated that he noticed damage to his vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot. The investigation is ongoing.

 FRAUD

 Woodforest Bank, 18 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, March 1 12 pm (reported March 7 130 pm). The victim reported that a check was cashed against her account and after the check was cashed the bank automatically closed her account. The investigation is ongoing.

 LARCENY

 Best Western, 30 Plank Road, March 7 10 a.m.  The victim reported that her purse and iPad were taken from the interior of her vehicle which was inadvertently left unsecured. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

10-block Winchester Street, March 7 11 a.m. The victim reported that the diesel fuel that had been in their 14-seat bus had been removed. The victim stated that the bus was full of gas in the days prior. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

 RACSB, 6 Jackson Street, March 7 245 p.m. The victim reported that her purse was removed from under the desk inside the office. A short time later, an employee found the victim’s wallet in a trash can and which was missing $25. cash. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

 SHOPLIFTING

 ABC Liquor Store, 1271 Jefferson Davis Hwy, March 7 1030 a.m.   The manager reported that as he was walking around the store, he noticed that a bottle of Vodka was missing. After reviewing surveillance footage, he observed a black male, leave the store 10 minutes prior, take the Vodka from the shelf and place it in his pants pocket. The investigation is ongoing.

 VANDALISM

 6-block Cobblestone Blvd, March 7 10:10 a.m.  An officer patrolling the area found graffiti on the concrete wall adjacent to the property. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

 ARRESTS

Vincent Mercanto, 19, of no fixed address was arrested for aggressive solicitation.

 Jenna Queen, 26, of Ruther Glen was arrested on a capias from Fredericksburg, Stafford County and a felony warrant from Prince William County for larceny.
