Stafford County Sheriff's arrest captain with Fredericksburg Police Department after finding him sharing motel room with 17-year-old boy.

A Fredericksburg Police Officer has been arrested after he was found sharing a motel room 17-year-old boy.

Deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff's Office arrested 46-year-old Captain Brent Mitchell Taylor, a captain in the city police's detective division and a 24 year veteran of the Fredericksburg Police Department. Taylor, who lives on Wood Landing Road in Fredericksburg, was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to a year in jail and $2,500 in fines. Taylor was later released on a summons.

Fredericksburg police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe said that Taylor has been placed on administrative leave with pay until an internal investigation into the charges is complete.

The Stafford sheriff's office said in a press release that on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2011 at about 2:40 a.m., deputies came across the 17-year-old boy walking northbound on Warrenton Road. The boy told deputies that he had locked himself out of his motel room. He also told deputies that Taylor had rented the room, but would return later.

Police say that Taylor picked up the boy in Fairfax earlier that day after previously making contact with him over the internet. Without the permission of the boy's parents, Taylor then brought him to a Motel 6 on Warrenton Road.

After encountering the boy, deputies were waiting at the motel when Taylor returned later that morning.

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office are not releasing much more information on the case, saying only that the investigation is ongoing.
