Cops Stop Scooter Thieves Red Handed

A patrolling police officer stumbles on to two teenagers loading a stolen scooter onto a truck. Read more details in today's City Blotter.

FREDERICKSBURG POLICE INCIDENTS MONDAY, AUGUST 22, 2011

LARCENY:

100 block Caroline St, Aug. 21 4:30 a.m. An officer patrolling in the area found two subjects attempting to load a motorized scooter into the back of a vehicle. The teenage male and female claimed that the scooter belonged to them, but the officer checked the parking sticker on the scooter and was able to determine its ownership. The owner was called to the scene and verified that he had last seen the scooter outside his apartment building on Princess Anne Street around 10:00 p.m. and that nobody had permission to have it. Tyeisha Bumbrey, 18, of Stafford was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, accessory to grand larceny, and possession of burglary tools. The juvenile male was turned over to the custody of a parent with a referral to juvenile intake authorities for grand larceny. Bumbrey was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

Courtyard Marriott, 620 Caroline St, Aug. 10 (reported Aug. 19) A guest reported that a laptop computer was stolen from his bag in the lobby. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

2300 block Cowan Blvd, Aug. 17 5:00 a.m.  – 8:00 a.m. A resident reported that for three straight days his newspaper was stolen from in front of his apartment door. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

600 block Greenbrier Ct, Aug. 18 9:00 a.m.  – Aug. 20 2:25 pm. A resident reported that a handgun and bag of tools were stolen from his unsecured vehicle in the parking lot. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

VANDALISM:

800 block Wolfe St, Aug. 19 6:45 p.m.– Aug. 20 9:30 a.m. A Sumerduck resident reported that his vehicle was scratched and damaged by a sharp object while the vehicle was parked on the street. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Parking Garage, 600 Sophia St, Aug. 20 9:45 p.m.– Aug. 21 8:20 a.m. An attendant reported that he found graffiti inside one of the elevators. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1500 block Idlewild Blvd, Aug. 20 5:30 p.m.– Aug. 21 11:45 a.m. A visitor reported that the rear window on her vehicle was broken. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

DUI ARRESTS: Augustus Holmes, 51, of King George was arrested in the 300 block of Charles St.

ARRESTS: Sarah Parker, 23, of Stafford was arrested for shoplifting from Kohls.

John Anderson, 18, of Spotsylvania was arrested for shoplifting from Target.

Robert Martinez, 42, of Fredericksburg was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Orlando Henriquez, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested for drinking in public, underage possession of alcohol, and littering.

George Burton, 18, of Stafford was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Matthew Wiland, 19, of Fredericksburg was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Chance Pownall, 22, of Stafford was arrested for urinating in public.

Jeffrey Mootrey, 61, of Spotsylvania was arrested for felony embezzlement.

Elizabeth Nelson, 53, of Fredericksburg was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Michael Journigan, 24, of King George was arrested for possession of marijuana.

John Houck, 23, of Fredericksburg was arrested for possession of marijuana and on a warrant from Stafford charging him with petit larceny.

Sarah Swett, 23, of Spotsylvania was arrested for shoplifting from Kohls.

Matthew Coffman, 26, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery, attempted robbery, and public intoxication.

Kevin Newport, 29, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication. Maria Tejada Murcia, 37, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery. Samuel Gibbs, 35, of Suitland, Maryland was arrested for shoplifting from Target.

Paul White, 24, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery, preventing a person from summoning help, and resisting arrest.
