Crime Alert: Car Break-Ins at Gyms in Fredericksburg

Gym members should be on alert in Fredericksburg: thieves are targeting valuables left in cars at area gyms, according to the Fredericksburg City Police Department.

Too often, people leave purses in their car when they get to the gym. Sometimes, the purse is hidden from site, but that often doesn't matter.

At 7:40 p.m. on Feb. 6, a member at Gold's Gym on Plank Road reported that she ended a 90-minute workout and found a window of her car had been busted. Someone had stolen a purse from inside the car. 

On Monday evening, another Plank Road gym member found that a window had been broken out of her car and that her purse had been stolen.

And Gold's Gym members aren't the only targets, a woman reported on Wednesday afternoon that her purse had been stolen in the parking lot at Planet Fitness on Jefferson Davis Highway. Again, she had been working out during the incident.
