Deputies Say Father Shot Son in Domestic Dispute

Spotsylvania County deputies charged a 49-year-old father with malicious wounding for allegedly shooting his son after the two had argued most of the evening.

Capt. Mike Harvey, spokesman for the sheriff's office, said deputies responded to the 8600 block of Laroque Run Drive at about 8 p.m. on Aug. 4 and found the father, Daniel Roh, holding pressure on his son's left shoulder that sustained a gunshot wound.

Harvey said that Roh's son, Danen, 30, had been arguing with his parents all evening about his parents visiting his older brother.

"Danen was told to leave his parents residence to which he complied but stated he was going to get a gun and return to the residence and kill them," Harvey said.

Harvey said Danen Roh returned to the home at about 7:45 p.m. and his father confronted him from the top of the steps ordering him to leave. Dane Roh was not armed, Harvey said.

"When Danen refused to leave Daniel fired one round striking Danen in the left shoulder. Daniel then immediately administered first aid until deputies and rescue units arrived on scene," Harvey said. 

Danen Roh was transported to the hospital and was last in stable condition.
