Deputy Bryan M. Berger, 34, was participating in calisthenic exercises when he began experiencing difficulty breathing. Berger collapsed and was rushed to Mary Washington Hospital where he died.
A statement on the Sheriff's Office Facebook page noted funeral arrangements are incomplete.
"Sheriff Harris would like to thank the public and law enforcement community for their continued support," the statement read. "Our agency's thoughts and prayers are with Bryan's wife and family during this difficult time."
