Suspect Identified in Carjacking at Fredericksburg 7-Eleven

Police are asking the public's help locating the suspect, whom they consider armed and dangerous.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department has identified Estes Jennings, age 42, as the suspect wanted in connection with the August 2 carjacking from outside a Fredericksburg 7-Eleven.

Jennings is 5’10”, 250 lbs., with brown eyes and black hair, sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Jeff Pearce said.  "Jennings may have recently changed his appearance to avoid detection by law enforcement," Pearce said.

The victim told police a black male subject followed her into the store at about 3:40 a.m. August 2 and stood around while she made her purchase. The victim said the subject pulled a knife from his waistband when she left the store, forced her into the vehicle and ordered her to take him to an unknown location, Pearce said.  The victim was able to escape, by jumping from the vehicle.

"We are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the suspect," Pearce said.

Jennings has ties to both the Fredericksburg, Va., area and the New York area.  "Anyone encountering this suspect should not attempt to approach or apprehend him, rather contact law enforcement," Pearce said.  Jennings is considered armed and dangerous.
