Food Lion Robbed, Suspect Arrested After Police Chase
The alleged robber crashed into another vehicle while trying to elude police.
A Woodbridge resident who allegedly robbed a Food Lion was captured by Spotsylvania Sheriff's deputies Monday night.
At 6:04 p.m. Dec. 2, a male suspect walked into Food Lion at 7100 Salem Fields Blvd., showed a black pistol and demanded money from the registers, Capt. Jeffery Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said.
"The suspect assaulted one of the female employees, took an undisclosed amount of cash, left the store and drove off in a vehicle," Pearce said. The woman was not seriously injured.
The Spotsylvania County Emergency Communications Center received the 9-1-1 call from store employees, who provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle. "Only about two minutes later, Spotsylvania Patrol Lieutenant S. Clem spotted the suspect vehicle traveling on Plank Road, near Spotsylvania Towne Center mall," Pearce said.
