Fourth Suspect in Custody for Rodney Beanum Homicide
Four men have been arrested in connection with the Nov. 24 shooting on Howard Avenue in Fredericksburg.
John Edwin Pegram, the fourth suspect wanted by City of Fredericksburg Police in connection with the Nov. 24 homicide of Rodney Beanum, Jr., is in custody.
Pegram, 23, was picked up by U.S. Marshals near Richmond Friday afternoon and transported Fredericksburg to speak with Fredericksburg detectives, according to Fredericksburg Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.
Three other suspects are in custody for the homicide that occurred in the 1900 block of Howard Avenue.
With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Service, Lorenzo McKinley Jones, 19, was arrested in Richmond on December 19 and Diontae Washington, 22, turned himself in to Richmond authorities on December 21. Wesley Carlton Smith, 22, was arrested in Stafford County on December 18.
"All four suspects face charges of first degree murder and robbery for their involvement in the shooting death of Rodney Beanum, Jr.," Bledsoe said.
Beanum, Jr., 28, of Fredericksburg, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.
