Fredericksburg Man Arrested On Sexual Battery Charges

A neighbor alerted police, said Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.

The Fredericksburg Police Department arrested city resident Stephen Polakowski on two counts of aggravated sexual battery of a 5-year-old child.

Natatia Bledsoe, the police spokeswoman, said today that a neighbor of Polakowski's, 49, alerted police to the alleged crimes a week ago, which sparked an investigation. Detectives were able to locate the alleged victim in the Commons at Cowan Boulevard and gathered enough evidence to charge Polakowski with two counts of aggravated sexual battery for alleged offenses that police said occurred last year.

Polakowski is incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond. If anyone has information concerning Stephen Polakowski and would like to share that information with investigators, they are asked to please call Detective Karen Stubbs at 540-654-5754 or Detective Carlos Reyes at 540-654-5919.
