Fredericksburg Police Identify Suspect in November 24 Homicide

Police say the suspect should be considered armed and very dangerous.

City of Fredericksburg Police have obtained First Degree Murder and Armed Robbery warrants for Lorenzo McKinley Jones III, said Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police public information officer.

The 19-year-old is wanted in connection with the Nov. 24 homicide of Rodney Beanum Jr., who was shot multiple times while in the 1900 block of Howard Ave.  The 28-year-old Fredericksburg resident died at the scene.

There was a robbery just prior to the shooting, Bledsoe said.  "The victim of the robbery was not the same person as the homicide victim," Bledsoe said.  She had no other information to release.

Jones is 5-feet nine-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds.  His hair may now be longer than in the photo, police said.

Police believe Jones may be staying in the Richmond area.  He also has ties to Clarksville, Tenn. and the Washington, DC area.

Jones should be considered armed and very dangerous, Bledsoe said.  Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Detective Hunnicutt at 540-654-5743 or the Fredericksburg Police at 540-373-3122.
