Tire Zone Employee Steals SUV, Flees Police, Crashes

The Fredericksburg Police Department provided this information. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

By Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police Department public information officer.

300 block Riverside Dr, 8/9 11:30 p.m.
An officer patrolling in the area observed a Lincoln SUV being driven erratically and at a high rate of speed. The officer followed the SUV and saw it pass other vehicles by crossing into the oncoming lanes of traffic. The Lincoln then struck a boat on a trailer parked on Riverside Drive and blew out two tires while making the turn onto Fall Hill Avenue.

The offending driver disregarded the officer’s attempts to pull him over and
continued across Route 1 until finally crashing into a Volvo parked on Prince Edward Street.  The impact pushed the Volvo into a second parked Volvo, which ended up in a nearby yard.

The driver got out of the Lincoln and ran for a short distance before being apprehended on Pitt Street without further incident.

The Lincoln sustained significant damage.  It was later determined that the Lincoln had been stolen from Tire Zone on Princess Anne Street, where it had been left for maintenance.

The suspect driver is an employee of Tire Zone. Sinda Lokayi, 29, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for grand larceny, eluding, reckless driving, driving while revoked (DUI related), three counts of hit and run, and possession of marijuana.

Lokayi was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
