Fredericksburg Woman Charged with Fraud at Kohl's

The suspect allegedly picked up a piece of kitchenware

A loss prevention employee at the Kohl's on Carl D. Silver Parkway reported to City of Fredericksburg Police on Oct. 15 that a female subject picked up a piece of merchandise in the kitchenware section and proceeded directly to the customer service desk, where she received a full store credit for the item.

"The female then immediately left the store," said a news release from the department. "While investigating the incident, the officer was able to speak to the suspect by phone when she called in to the store to complain that her credit had been voided."

A warrant was obtained for Rebecca Betancourt, 25, of Fredericksburg charging her with fraud/obtaining money by false pretenses. Betancourt had not been arrested by publication time, police said.
