Friends Want Justice for Julie Serna Gonzales

"She just attacked me with a knife and I had to shoot her," 911 caller said.

Friends of a Stafford woman killed two weeks ago are upset there are still no charges in the case.  "We're all thinking the same thing, that because he's an FBI agent, if justice can actually get done for her,” friend Donna Ulibarri-Peralta told NBC4 Reporter Julie Carey.

Julie Serna Gonzales was shot in her home April 19.  A man calling 911 said, "She just attacked me with a knife and I had to shoot her."

The Stafford County Sheriff's Office distributed a press release April 22 saying the shooting "was between the husband and his estranged wife."

"When deputies arrived on scene they found a female victim suffering from gun shot wounds," Bill Kennedy, Sheriff's Office spokesperson, said.  "The female was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead."

Friends of the family told The Free Lance-Star the estranged husband is an FBI agent at Quantico.

"No charges have been filed at this point but Stafford Detectives are actively investigating the incident," Kennedy said.  "Due to the ongoing investigation no additional information will be provided."

Friends have created a Facebook tribute page: Juliestrong in Memory of Julie Serna.  The 42-year-old grew up in Socorro, N.M.  She is the mother of two children.  Her obituary is online.
