Homicide Arrest in Truck Yard Shooting

Body was discovered in December, George Elwood Crenshaw charged with first degree murder.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's deputies have made an arrest in the investigation of a body found at Attkisson Truck and Equipment Sales in December.

George Elwood Crenshaw, 45, of Caroline County, has been indicted on charges of first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

The body of Attkisson employee Mickey Wane Jones, 61, was discovered when his coworkers arrived at work Dec. 27.

"There were very few leads and this was truly a difficult case to solve," said Spotsylvania County Sheriff Roger Harris on Tuesday.

The investigation was aided Jan. 25, when Crenshaw was arrested on an unrelated commercial break-in.

Investigators discovered Crenshaw had pawned a gun similar to the weapon used in the killing of Jones in December. Police say the gun has since been matched to the shooting.
