Large Quantities of Drugs Discovered During Arrest

Deputies shoot and kill "aggressive" pit bull. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A man who had been eluding capture for some time was arrested Jan. 24, Cpt. Jeffery Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said.

Josh Williams, 24, was arrested on outstanding warrants for aggravated malicious wounding, assault and other charges, Pearce said.

Detectives from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations arrested Williams outside a residence in the Timbers Subdivision, as he reportedly attempted to escape.

"During the arrest, a pit bull dog belonging to Williams became extremely aggressive and attempted to attack one of the deputies affecting the arrest," Pearce said. "Deputies were forced to shoot and kill the pit bull."

Large quantities of drugs were discovered during execution of the arrest warrants, according to police, and Williams was additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and PCP. He is being held without bond.
