Library Offices Rummaged Through

Nothing appeared to be stolen from the downtown library

Fredericksburg Police are investigating an incident at the Regional Library at 1201 Caroline St. in which someone rummaged through several desks and cabinets in several employees' offices.

A security guard noticed that someone went through the offices but it did not appear anything was stolen, according to the police report. The incident happened between 5-9 p.m. Thursday.

The following crimes are on Friday's police log:

Burglary

1000 block Hotchkiss Pl. 12 a.m. – 6:30 a.m. on Thursday: A resident reported that an unknown person entered his attached garage and stole a bicycle. The bike was later located on the roadway a few houses away. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

LARCENY:
600 block Greenbrier Dr., Wednesday–Thursday 7 a.m. A resident reported that her moped was stolen from outside her apartment building. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

2500 block Carriage Ln., Tuesday–Thursday 6 a.m. A resident reported that his vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of his apartment building. The vehicle is a 2005 blue Cadillac with expired Virginia license plates. The investigation is ongoing.

Walmart, 1800 Carl D Silver Pkwy., Thursday 3:30 p.m. A loss prevention employee reported that a laptop computer was stolen from the store. The theft was discovered when another employee found an empty box on a shelf that had contained the item. The investigation is ongoing.

Vandalism:

Sport and Health, 1191 Central Park Blvd., 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Thursday: A patron reported that a window on his vehicle was smashed while the vehicle was parked in the lot. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Vehicle Tampering

1100 block of Preserve Ln., Wednesday-Thursday 7 a.m. A resident reported that an unknown person entered her vehicle and rummaged through the interior. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1500 block of Stafford Ave., 1 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. Thursday: A resident reported that an unknown person entered his vehicle and rummaged through the interior. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

This has happened several times at the downtown library. Maybe they need lockers with real locks to protect ladies purses and things like cell phones, Ipods etc. Some people would steal just to do it and it blows me away that people are so not nice.
