Man Charged With Brandishing of a Firearm in Rt. 3 Road Rage Incident

The Spotsylvania man turned in a firearm to police.

A Spotsylvania resident was arrested for misdemeanor brandishing of a firearm in connection with a road rage incident reported Dec. 2.

The incident occurred as a driver was merging from I-95 onto Plank Road (Rt. 3) at 6 p.m. Monday, Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police spokesperson, said.  The driver told police a Jeep cut in front of him and when he responded with a hand gesture, the male passenger in the Jeep pointed a handgun at him.

Fredericksburg police working with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect as Justin Ruongrat.  During the police interview, Ruongrat turned over a firearm, which was secured as potential evidence.

The 28-year-old has been released by the magistrate on a $2,500 bond.
