UPDATED: Manhunt For Burglar Who Tried To Choke Sleeping Woman

Warrants for malicious wounding and burglary are filed for Derrick Holloman.

Updated March 29, 4:43 p.m.:Derrick Holloman, wanted for burglary and malicious wounding after breaking in to a woman’s home on Kenmore Avenue during the early morning hours on March 28, was arrested without incident this afternoon by Fredericksburg detectives. The FPD investigators received a tip yesterday that Holloman was staying in a residence near the Medical Arts building on Fall Hill Avenue. When detectives knocked on the door, Holloman answered and was taken into custody. Holloman is currently being interviewed and will be incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

Fredericksburg Police are searching for a man accused of trying to strangle a woman in her home on Kenmore Avenue earlier this morning.

Fredericksburg Police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said that a 27-year-old female told police she had a conversation with the ex-boyfriend of her roommate's at about 11 p.m Tuesday and then went inside her apartment and locked the door. She fell asleep on the couch and at about 1:50 a.m. she woke up because she felt something around her neck that was choking her.

"The victim began struggling and fought against the ligature until it broke, at which point her assailant let go and ran out the front door. The victim recognized
her assailant as the acquaintance she had spoken to a few hours earlier," Bledsoe said.

Police called in a canine to help search the area but they were unable to find the suspect. Arrest warrants have been filed for Derrick Holloman, 31, no fixed address, on charges of malicious wounding and burglary. Holloman has not been arrested yet.
