Mother Arrested After Leaving Child Alone to Buy Booze

Police say mom drove to a convenience store on a suspended license

A Spotsylvania County woman is behind bars after sheriffs discovered an infant home alone while the mother bought alcohol.

Sheriffs Deputy David Schmidt was called to the 5000 block of Gallager Driver in Spotsylvania on Thusday after receiving a report of possible child endangerment. Arriving on the scene, Schmidt discovered a one-year-old child alone at the house. The mother, 34-year-old Amber Gangi Bunn, had driven to a convenience store to purchase alcohol. Upon her return home, she discovered Schmidt inside with her child.

Police say that Bunn smelled of alcohol, and subjected her to a breathalyzer test. The results of the test showed that Bunn was not legally impaired to drive, however Bunn's license had been suspended.
