Motorist Runs Over Stop Sign and Fire Hydrant, Crashes Into House
Alcohol was a factor, police said.
A woman driving in the 900 block of Sylvania Ave. at about 8:25 p.m. Dec. 30 ran over a stop sign and a fire hydrant before crashing into the corner of a house.
"When police and emergency services responded to a report of a single vehicle crash, they found the driver still in the vehicle, uninjured," said Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg Police public information officer.
The resident of the home, a 62-year-old female, also was not injured, Bledsoe said. "The corner of her house was damaged, as well as the hedges surrounding her yard."
Betsy Cornett, 38, of Fredericksburg was arrested for DUI and reckless driving and incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $2500 bond.
