Neighbors Help Nab Burglars

FREDERICKSBURG POLICE INCIDENTS WEDNESDAY, JULY 20, 2011

BURGLARY:

3000 block Normandy Ave, July 19 4:10 p.m. A resident reported that she saw a suspicious male subject entering the home of a neighbor, and she also saw a suspicious female subject in the front yard. The witness called the neighbor, who was not at home and confirmed that nobody had permission to be inside his house. The witness’ husband approached the house just as the male suspect exited the back door, and he gave chase to both suspects as they fled on foot down the nearby canal path. Responding officers located and detained both suspects at the CVS on Jefferson Davis Hwy, and the witnesses later positively identified them as the offenders. James Wellborn, 26, and Dianna Wellborn, 24, of no fixed address were arrested and each charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony and conspiracy. Both Wellborns were incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY:

400 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, July 20 1:30 a.m. A homeless woman reported that she was walking northbound beside Route 1 when she was approached by two male subjects, one of whom grabbed her from behind and wrapped his arm around her neck. The victim thought that a knife was placed at her throat, although she did not see the weapon. The assailant pulled at the victim’s backpack, causing several items to fall out onto the road; he then let her go and both suspects left the area on foot. The victim ran to the nearby 7-11 on Amaret St and called 911. The suspects were described as Hispanic males in their 20’s. One was wearing jeans and a blue shirt with multi-colored stripes across the chest, the second suspect was wearing jeans and a gray shirt with a single blue stripe across the chest. Several officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was not injured. The investigation is ongoing.

LARCENY:

1200 block Carl D Silver Pkwy, July 12 – July 19 11:30 a.m. A visitor reported that his laptop computer was stolen from his vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1400 block Prince Edward St, July 18 7:00 p.m. – July 19 7:00 a.m. A resident reported that a stroller was stolen from the front porch. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

ABC Store, 1416 Carl D Silver Pkwy, July 19 7:00 p.m. An employee reported that a male subject stole a bottle of liquor by concealing it in his pants. No known suspects at this time.

VANDALISM:

Quilts and Treasures, 814 Caroline St, July 18 6:00 p.m. – July 19 9:40 a.m. The owner reported that a window was broken on the building. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

ARRESTS:

Alexis Cardone, 25, of Manassas was arrested for cruelty to animals after leaving a dog in her vehicle at Walmart.

Sherri Washington, 23, of Fredericksburg was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Luther Williams, 76, of Fredericksburg was arrested for domestic assault and battery.

James Nicholson, 54, of Stafford was arrested for attempting to obtain a prescription by false pretenses.

Jelonny Ross, 28, of Fredericksburg was arrested for drinking in public. Yvonne Lewis, 46, of Spotsylvania was arrested for assault and battery.
