Police: Car Thief Abandons Ride in the Snow

Victim says car went missing, police say perp didn't get far, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The snow was tough on those who had to get out and drive Thursday morning, including a car thief who struggled in the winter weather, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The Fredericksburg area saw its most significant snow of the season, more than 9 inches in some areas, according to weather spotters.

A city resident contacted police at 3 a.m. Thursday when he found his car had been stolen from the street next to his Deerwood Drive home.

Investigators didn't have to look far to find the vehicle, according to police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

"The vehicle was soon located not far from the victim’s home, where it had apparently been driven and then abandoned after getting stuck in the snow," she said in a release.
