Two suspects were taken into custody late Friday, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

A homicide investigation has led to the arrest of two women, including the victim's daughter, according to Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office.

Christina Brown, 25, and Alaina Mercer, 25, both of King George County, are charged with felony conspiracy to commit murder.

On May 18, deputies discovered the body of 58-year-old Nancy Mercer at her home in the 7800 block of Eastridge Way.

In a statement, Sheriff Harris noted that Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division have worked around the clock, examining forensic evidence, interviewing potential information sources and following up on numerous leads.

Warrants for Brown and Alaina Mercer were issued late Friday, according to the Sheriff's Office. The suspects were taken into custody in the 10300 block of Vintage Way in King George County.

The suspects reportedly made an attempt to flee before police arrived, but both were arrested without further incident in a neighboring home.
