Police Investigate Mysterious Burning Device

FREDERICKSBURG POLICE INCIDENTS MONDAY, MAY 2, 2011

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY:

1800 block Jefferson Davis Hwy, May 2 3:20 a.m. A police Sergeant patrolling in the area discovered a home-made device burning in the right northbound lane of Rt1. The device had broken and left pieces of glass in the roadway, and it appeared that a petroleum product was used to fuel the small fire. A police K9 attempted a track in the area to locate a possible suspect or suspects, but the search was unsuccessful. The incident was turned over to the Fire Marshal for evidence collection and further investigation.

LARCENY:

800 block Westwood Office Park, April 26 12:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. An employee reported that cash and a musical instrument were stolen from her unsecured vehicle in the parking lot. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

1000 block Dorthea Ct, April 28 11:30 p.m. – April 29 8:15 a.m. A visitor reported that the radio system and tools were stolen from his unsecured vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Mary Washington Hospital, 1001 Sam Perry Blvd, April 29 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. An employee reported that credit cards and other items of value were stolen from her purse in her office. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

600 block Greenbrier Ct, April 28 8:00 p.m. A resident reported that her GPS and a gym bag were stolen from her vehicle. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

700 block Virginia Ave, April 26 – April 30 8:00 p.m. A resident reported that two bicycles were stolen from the shed in the back yard. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Aladins Restaurant, 2052 Plank Rd, May 1 12:10 a.m. A patron reported that her wallet was stolen from the bar. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Wegmans, 2281 Carl D Silver Pkwy, April 30 12:45 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. A patron reported that her car key was stolen from her purse while she was shopping inside the store. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

V ANDALISM:

Barber Shop, 241 Charles St, April 29 7:40 p.m. The business owner reported that he found the rear door damaged as if someone had attempted to make entry. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

800 block College Ave, April 29 10:00 p.m. - April 30 9:30 a.m. A student reported that her vehicle was damaged by a beer bottle smashed against the roof. No suspects or witnesses at this time.Lowes, 1361 Carl D Silver Pkwy, April 30 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Two customers reported that their vehicles were scratched and damaged by a sharp object. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

Quaker Steak and Lube, 1300 Central Park Blvd, April 30 10:00 p.m. Three patrons reported that their vehicles were damaged by unknown persons who threw rocks at the cars from a concealed location. No suspects or witnesses at this time.

The Pool Company, 1237 Jefferson Davis Hwy, May 2 1:30 p.m. A UMW police officer reported that the rear door to the business was found open and the lock was damaged. A police K9 searched the building but there was no evidence that entry was made. The investigation is ongoing.

ARRESTS:

Darrell Groover, 33, of Fredericksburg was arrested for assault and battery.

April Thomas, 29, of Spotsylvania was arrested for trespassing.

Juvenile female, 16, was arrested for shoplifting from Target.

Sabrina Smith, 37, of no fixed address was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Juvenile female, 17, was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart.

Josie Beckley, 34, of no fixed address was arrested for public intoxication.

Tomas Salviejo, 27, of Quantico was arrested for public intoxication.

Brandon Shunamon, 20, of Spotsylvania was arrested for underage possession of alcohol.

Reuben Fletcher, 21, of Spotsylvania was arrested for malicious wounding, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest.

Kayla Spriggs, 21, of Fredericksburg was arrested for obstruction of justice and possession of schedule I narcotics.

Thurston Thornton, 36, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication.

Ronald Woolfolk, 51, of Woodford was arrested for possession of marijuana, obstruction of justice, and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Frederick Stroman, 43, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication. Michael Hill, 55, of Fredericksburg was arrested for public intoxication.

Jared Renton, 22, of Heathsville was arrested for shoplifting from Walmart. Stuart Sullivan, 47, of Stafford was arrested for possession of marijuana. Juvenile male, 16, was arrested for possession of marijuana. Juvenile male, 16, was arrested for possession of marijuana.

Juvenile male, 17, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
