Prince William County Police are investigating the suspicious circumstances involving the deaths of two horses at a farm in Nokesville on Friday, 1st Sgt. Kim Chinn said.

"Between 6 and 7 a.m., a ten year old thoroughbred-cross mare was found dead in a field," Chinn said. "A quarter horse palomino gelding was also found in the field; he was severely injured and required euthanasia."

Police are not releasing additional details at this time, because it is a criminal investigation, Chinn said.  "We know people are speculating on Facebook, but it's important to the investigation not to confirm the exact location at this time," Chinn said. The 1st Sgt. said she would provide additional information when possible.

Police are actively investigating the case. Anyone with information that may be helpful is asked to call Prince William County Police dispatch at 703-792-6500.
