Police: Robbery Charges in Two 7-Eleven Holdups

Incidents hours apart in Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania linked to the same suspect, according to Fredericksburg Police Department.

Area law enforcement say they have a man in custody responsible for two 7-Eleven robberies early Monday morning.

Lantz Day, 36, of Locust Grove, was charged with one count of armed robbery in Fredericksburg and one count of armed robbery in Spotsylvania County. Day was incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

Fredericksburg Police responded to a report of a robbery at the 7-Eleven at 3333 Fall Hill Avenue at 12:10 a.m. Monday.

"An employee reported that a male subject entered the store and approached the counter, then demanded money from the register while implying that he had a weapon under his shirt," according to police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled on foot. Police efforts to track him were unsuccessful.

But, shortly after 6 a.m., Spostylvania County Sheriff's Office deputies received a similar call of a robbery at a 7-Eleven on Lafayette Boulevard just outside of Fredericksburg.

A deputy detained Day in a nearby parking lot and he was subsequently identified as the offender in both cases, according to Bledsoe.
