Police: Woman Shot at Sister's House With Shotgun

Two incidents hours apart in neighborhood, according to Fredericksburg Police Department.

A Fredericksburg woman was arrested over the weekend for allegedly shooting her shotgun in the city limits, including one blast at the back door of her sister's house, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Mary Silvey, 54, was charged with two counts of discharging a firearm in the city, two counts of reckless handling of a firearm and one count of felony destruction of property.

Officers first responded to the area of Stonewall Drive regarding a report of shots fired at 4:50 a.m. Friday. Finding nothing suspicious and unable to determine where the shots came from, police left the area, according to police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

"At approximately 8 a.m. police responded back to Stonewall Drive in Confederate Ridge for (an) additional reports of gunfire," said Bledsoe in a release. "One caller described seeing an individual walking from one house to another house on the street and carrying a long gun."

The investigating officer found Silvey in her home and determined that she was the person who fired rounds from a shotgun both of the reported times, according to Bledsoe.

The second shots at 8 a.m. were shot through the back door of Silvey's sister's house next door, according to police. Her sister’s house was unoccupied at the time.
