Purse Snatched Outside Fredericksburg Target

A woman's purse was stolen as she was putting purchases into her car, according to Fredericksburg Police.

A woman's purse was snatched from her shopping cart outside Target at about 6:50 p.m. Sunday as she was loading her purchases into the trunk of her car, Natatia Bledsoe, City of Fredericksburg Police spokesperson, said.

The 59-year-old Spotsylvania resident said a male subject grabbed her
purse from the shopping cart. The victim chased the subject across the parking lot until he jumped into the back seat of a silver car and fled the scene, Bledsoe said.

An officer patrolling in the area observed a silver vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and without its headlights on. The officer stopped the vehicle on Central Park Boulevard, and located the victim’s purse behind the driver’s seat.

The three occupants of the vehicle, all from Woodbridge, were subsequently detained and charged, Bledsoe said.

Cody Lillard, 22, was arrested for grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny, and possession of marijuana.

Raven Heard, 19, and Tabitha Compton, 21, were both arrested for
conspiracy to commit grand larceny.

Compton was released on a personal recognizance bond, while Heard was incarcerated under a $1000 bond and Lillard was incarcerated under no bond, Bledsoe said.

All the victim’s property was returned to her.
