Purse Snatcher Snatched at Castiglias

Police were called to the restaurant for a "disturbance."

A "disturbance" between two women Saturday night at Castiglias Italian Restaurant in downtown Fredericksburg resulted in arrest of an alleged purse snatcher.

A 23-year-old woman told officers she was sitting in a booth in the bar when she realized her purse was missing.

"While she was looking for it, a male walked up to another female inside the bar and attempted to return the missing purse to her, saying that she had left it behind in the restroom," said Natatia Bledsoe, Fredericksburg police spokesperson.

The owner of the purse intervened and took the purse from the male, but when she realized it had been emptied of its contents, she followed the other female outside the restaurant and called police.

"The victim’s credit cards and other items were found inside the clothing of the second female," Bledsoe said.
