Unknown man demanded cash and fled the scene on foot, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

Investigators are searching for an unknown man who robbed a florist on Sunday afternoon, according to Fredericksburg City Police.

At 1:15 p.m. Sunday, police responded to Westwood Florist, at 1905 Plank Road. An employee told police that a man had approached the service counter, threatened her with a knife and demanded money, according to police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

"The victim complied and the unknown man left the store on foot," Bledsoe said in a statement. "Officers responded to the scene and used a police canine to search for the suspect, but he was not located."

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s to mid-30s wearing a black or dark blue short-sleeved polo shirt and blue jeans. He was reported to be very dirty and had matted short dark hair, Bledsoe said.
