Sheriff's Office Introduces Crime Prevention Chevy

A seized and forfeited Chevy HHR is given a new life.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office has a new crime prevention vehicle. A Chevrolet HHR, seized and forfeited after a successful drug investigation, has been wrapped -- completely or partially covering a vehicle with graphics -- and will now be used to promote citizen interaction with the Sheriff's Office.

The Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 4391 and the Spotsylvania County Crime Solvers assisted in financing the wrapping of the car.  ForAnything.com is the company which designed and wrapped the car for the Sheriff's Office.

The new car was featured at Crime Prevention Day earlier this month. "Crime Prevention Day was a big success," said Cpt. Harvey of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office. "The event was well attended, and the weather could not have been better," he said.

An event feature was Virginia State Police providing VIN etching services for no charge. With VIN etching, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is etched on the vehicle in various locations, making it easier for law enforcement to identify stolen vehicles or parts.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Unit, the Spotsylvania County Crime Prevention Council (CPC) and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4391 hosted the 13th annual Crime Prevention Day.
