Shooting Outside Jay's in Fredericksburg

One man sustained a non life-threatening injury.

A customer leaving Jay's Restaurant and Lounge early Thursday morning was shot in the leg, Fredericksburg Police reported.

The 21-year-old Fredericksburg resident told police he was walking from the business at about 1:20 a.m. to meet his ride in the parking lot when he heard gunfire and saw a man in a white Crown Victoria.

"The victim jumped into the car waiting for him while the Crown Victoria left the parking lot and headed toward I-95," said Fredericksburg Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

The victim then realized he had been injured and was driven to the emergency room. He sustained a non life-threatening shooting injury to his ankle.
