Single Gunshot Leads to Three Arrests in Fredericksburg

Police arrive to find domestic dispute, one suspect running from apartment, according to Fredericksburg Police Department.

Three people were arrested Wednesday night after officers responded to a call of a single gunshot, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department.

Officers arrived at 10:30 p.m. to the 800 block of Monument Avenue. They reportedly heard a man and woman arguing inside an apartment.

Jesus Cepeda Rivera, 34, of Stafford had fired a handgun outside the door of the apartment during a disturbance, according to police. Rivera was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm in the city and possession of marijuana.

The woman in the apartment, whose name was not released, was found to have been the victim of a domestic assault prior to police arrival. Her injuries did not require medical treatment. She was also discovered to have outstanding warrants against her in Stafford County, and she was turned over to the custody of Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

As officers entered the apartment, another police officer outside spotted a man running out of the back door of the unit. Jose Antonio Colon, 27, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for domestic assault and battery against the woman arrested inside the unit, and he was also served with a warrant from Stafford County charging him with grand larceny.
