Spotsy Man Charged In Child Porn Case

Working with federal authorities, local police have arrested a man for possession of child pornography.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff's have arrested a man they say was sharing child pornography over peer-to-peer file sharing networks.

The investigation goes back to late July when Detective Clay Blankenship was conducting an online investigation into child pornography. After downloading three child porn videos, Blankenship cross referenced the internet service provider address with information collected by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and discovered that investigators from the Department of Homeland Security was also tracking the internet address. Blankenship reached out to the federal authorities investigating the address and received a copy of the case file for the offending address.

Using subpoena powers, Blankenship received the physical address of the internet account used to transmit the videos and received a search warrant.

On Oct. 22., at around 8:35 a.m., deputies from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office raided the home of Robert Evans, 24, in the 8600 block of Laroque Run Drive. Only one computer in the house was found to have a number of child pornography videos. Evans was charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography and jailed at Rappahannock Regional Jail under a $10,000 bond.
