Spotsylvania Man Damages Police Headquarters

This information was provided by the City of Fairfax Police Department. Where an arrest is mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A Spotsylvania man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses Thursday after he allegedly drove into the garage of the City of Fairfax Police Headquarters, causing an estimated $10,000 in damage.

Anthony John Skrobacz, 49, of Spotsylvania, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving, and hit and run.

Skrobacz drove a 1999 Mercury Marquis onto the driveway of the headquarters building at 3730 Old Lee Highway at about 2 a.m. Thursday, City of Fairfax Police Sgt. Joe Johnson said in a release.

"[He] proceeded to drive through the lowered door of the garage/processing area and then leave the scene," Johnson said.

The damage to the processing area doors was "considerable," but the contents of the building were spared.  Damage estimates are currently at $10,000, according to police.

Shortly thereafter, police responded to an accident at University Drive and Willard Way, where they found a 1999 Mercury Marquis stopped on top of a median in a private parking lot.

Officers determined the driver was the same man who left the scene at police headquarters.

Skrobacz is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $5,000.
