Search in area by Fredericksburg and UMW police was unsuccessful.

A store clerk was stabbed overnight at a Fredericksburg 7-Eleven. The victim, 31, is being treated at Mary Washington Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The clerk told police he was sweeping the sidewalk in front of the store at 1240 Jefferson Davis Highway at 3:25 a.m. when he was approached from behind by an unknown man who demanded money.

"When the clerk denied having any cash, the offender stabbed him in the lower torso and ran from the scene," stated Fredericksburg police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe. "The clerk went back inside the store and locked the door, then called 911."

The suspect is described as a black male, 25-30 years old, under 5'9" in height and less than 220 pounds.  He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. He was last seen running on Augustine Avenue.

A police K9 and officers from Fredericksburg Police and UMW Police searched the area, but the suspect was not located.
