Suspect Arrested in Assault of Nader's Grocery Employee

Detective Hunnicutt of the Fredericksburg Police Department identified the suspect.

A Columbian Marine Lieutenant temporarily assigned to Quantico has been arrested in connection with the September 28 assault of an employee at Nader's Market in Fredericksburg.

Isnel A. Lopez, 28, was arrested Oct. 2, following identification by Detective Hunnicutt of the Fredericksburg Police Department.

"Lopez was charged with assault and battery, indecent exposure, urinating in public, trespassing, and preventing another person from calling 911," Fredericksburg Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe said.

At about 11:55 p.m. last Saturday, an employee reported that four male subjects entered Nader's Grocery at 508 Caroline St. and asked to use the bathroom. "When told that the business did not have any public restrooms, one of the men walked to the rear of the store and urinated on the floor," Bledsoe said.

"While the clerk was escorting the group out the door, the same man who had urinated on the floor turned and charged the clerk and struck him on the head," Bledsoe said. The assailant’s three friends pulled him away and out the door.

Lopez was released on a $2500 bond to his commanding officer.
