Suspects Nabbed in Jewelry Store Heist

Eyewitness gives chase to robbers in Spotsylvania Town Center

A sharp eyed eye-witness to a jewelry robbery at the Spotsylvania Town Center helped police nab three suspects in relation to the incident.

Around 9:15 p.m. on Friday, May 6, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Department responded to Yas & Co inside the mall. According to a press release, police say that a witness inside the jewelry store saw two men dart from the store with a bracelet in hand. The witness gave chase, and pursued the suspects to the front entrance of the mall and watched as the suspects escaped in a white Dodge Caravan parked nearby.

The witness provided very good descriptions of the suspects and even got the license plate number from the van.

In the ensuing investigation, the registered owner of the van was found to have warrants out in Spotsylvania County for a felony failure to appear charge.

Later, as deputies responded to an address off of Doe Circle, they came upon a man matching one of the descriptions standing outside, along with the white van used in the getaway. As police got closer, the man ran up into the residence. Several deputies converged on the residence, but all three suspects cooperated and were taken into custody without incident.
