Three Injured in Morning Motorcycle Wreck

Police say motorcyclist veered into the oncoming lane, resulting in a head on collision.

An early morning motorcycle accident on Lafayette Blvd. sent three people to the hospital. The wreck happened in the vicinity of the intersection of Lafayette Blvd. and Route 3 at about 8:04 a.m.

Fredericksburg Police Lt. Gregory Wigglesworth says that a motorcycle ridden by a single operator veered into oncoming traffic and made contact with a single moving vehicle in an almost head on collision. The impact resulted in injuries to the  motorcycle operator and two riders in the car. 

The motorcycle operator received extensive injuries, including broken bones, and was transported to Mary Washington Hospital. Police say that the man, while seriously injured, was recovering at the hospital, his wounds not thought to be life threatening.

The two victims in the car were transported to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
