Two recent Craigslist sales by Spotsylvania residents have been marred by payment with counterfeit cash.
A Spotsylvania resident who sold an item via Craigslist arranged to meet the buyer about 8:30 p.m. Dec. 30 in Central Park. The buyer paid for the item in cash, and the victim later discovered that the $20 bills used for payment were counterfeit, Fredericksburg police said.
Similarly, a Spotsylvania resident arranged to meet a Craigslist buyer about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Westwood Shopping Center on Plank Road. The victim later discovered that some of the $100 bills used for payment were counterfeit.
